Dr. Andrea Jackson has been practicing obstetrics and gynecology since 1988. Although you wouldn’t know it to look at her, she has delivered babies, performed surgeries and treated women of three generations now.
Dr. Jackson has extensive experience with a culturally diverse group of patients. She is particularly sensitive to the role that culture and economics plays in women’s healthcare. Her strong communications skills allow her to both listen to and advise women of every background.
Her areas of special interest include alternative and complementary
medicine, and the role that nutrition, stress and spirituality play in health and
disease. Her belief is that knowledge is power for women in maintaining their health and the health of their families. Questions are always encouraged. She is also quick to acknowledge that modern medicine does not always have all of the answers.
Dr. Jackson has written about and specialized in the treatment of uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and she incorporates minimally invasive surgical techniques as well as alternatives to surgery, where appropriate. Other areas of her expertise include the transition to menopause and the changes it brings in mood, libido, anxiety, sleep and weight changes as well as pregnancy at later ages.
In past years, Dr. Jackson has had collaborated with certified nurse midwives and this has had a big influence on her perspective on childbirth. She is open to a woman’s choice in childbirth whether an unmedicated, natural birth is preferred, or quite the opposite.
She is a working mom to three children. When not working, you will see her out and about at sporting events, community activities and she loves skiing and traveling to new places with her family.
