Julie has been a Certified Nurse Midwife since 2004. She graduated from West Virginia University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Early in her career, Julie found obstetric and gynecology to be her calling. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse in a small community hospital until she enrolled in Frontier School and Midwifery and Family Nursing. She completed the program in 2004 and has been practicing full-scope midwifery ever since with the majority of that time being right here in Fredericksburg.
Julie loves attending birth and feels that assisting women who are delivering their babies is a rewarding experience every single time. When asked “How many babies have you delivered?” Julie will always answer 2 ( her sons). She has attended well over 2000 births but is adamant that she does not deliver babies; mom(s) do!
Attending birth is only a portion of what Julie has to offer women. Midwifery care is centered on listening to women whether for a first time gynecology visit or desire to discuss the ever-changing needs women face. Working collaboratively with Dr. Scott Walker women can be assured their needs will be met respectfully to develop a plan that will best serve the patient.
